‘Sensational Exchange’ – Report Claims Arsenal Will Be Offered Ex-Everton Flop In Swap For £17M Playmaker

Juventus are hoping to sign Arsenal midfielder Charlie Patino in a swap deal involving Moise Kean, according to Tuttosport.

Patino is currently on loan at Championship side Swansea City, where he has scored 3 goals and provided 4 assists in 18 appearances.

The England Under 21 international was heavily linked with a permanent transfer away from the Emirates in the summer before it was decided that he would leave on a temporary basis again.

However, Tuttosport report that the Gunners would be willing to sell him in January if a team is prepared to meet their €20m (£17m) valuation.

Juve cannot afford to pay that amount but the Italian newspaper suggests that a “sensational exchange” could be proposed with former Everton striker Kean involved.

Arsenal are in the market for a striker but why would they want Kean?

There is no doubt that Mikel Arteta’s side need to strengthen their options up front but they don’t have a lot of room for manoeuvre financially due to FFP.

That is presumably why Juventus are looking to offer Kean in a swap deal, hoping that the Gunners will take the bait.

However, the Italian’s performances this season have been very poor. He has not scored or provided an assist in 12 appearances. Considering that he also struggled during his last spell in England (just 4 goals in 39 appearances for Everton), you can’t see Arsenal being interested in the deal.

Why are Juventus interested in Patino?

While the midfielder is an England youth international, he does also hold a Spanish passport, meaning he wouldn’t count towards the Bianconeri’s non-EU quota.

The Old Lady are not believed to be the only Serie A side pursuing Patino’s signature, with AC Milan also having been credited with an interest in the playmaker.

For the time being, though, it does appear as if the 20-year-old will be staying in England, unless Juve can table a more attractive offer.
