Arsenal Told They Can Sign Italian U21 Star For £10.3M After Watching Him ‘Several Times’ This Season

Fiorentina will consider selling Arsenal transfer target Michael Kayode for between €12m (£10.3m) and €15m (£12.8m) this summer, according to Calciomercato.com.

The Italian website report that the right-back is not “untransferable” and the Viola are prepared to offload him if they receive a good enough offer.

Kayode has been on the Gunners’ radar for quite some time. They had scouts in attendance when the defender scored the winning goal for Italy in the European Under 19 Championship final last year.

They have continued to monitor his progress this campaign, with Calciomercato claiming that Mikel Arteta’s side have watched him “several times” in recent months.

At 19 years of age, the club is still assessing Kayode’s potential and whether he has the attributes necessary to play in the Premier League.

How has the defender performed in Serie A this season?

Kayode made his debut for Fiorentina on the opening day against Genoa and he hasn’t really looked back from there.

The fullback has started 14 of the Viola’s 26 league games, whilst also making appearances in the Europa Conference League, Italian Cup and Italian Super Cup.

Back in October, Kayode also made his first appearance for Italy at Under 21 level, coming on as a late substitute against Norway. He was called up for the senior squad by manager Luciano Spalletti just a month later but he had to withdraw due to injury.

Why are Arsenal interested in signing another right-back?

With Ben White, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Jurrien Timber and Cedric all capable of playing on the right-hand side of defence, it is certainly not an area of the pitch that the club need to reinforce.

However, with Cedric expected to leave the Emirates this summer, as well as the fitness concerns surrounding Tomiyasu, having another young fullback available could prove beneficial.
