“It Will Be Sealed And Announced Soon” – Romano Provides Update On Future Of Arsenal Target

Arsenal target Michael Kayode is set to sign a new contract with his current club Fiorentina, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The 19-year-old made his senior debut at the start of this season but he was earning just £500 a week, and the Viola have decided to offer him fresh terms. Romano says the defender has agreed a five-year deal:

Kayode is a right-back by trade so it was slightly surprising that the Gunners were pursuing the player, considering the number of options they have in that position.

As well as Ben White, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Cedric Soares and Jurrien Timber can all be deployed there if needed.

Arsenal are planning to strengthen other areas in January

While a right-back may not be on the agenda, there is a chance that the Gunners will consider reinforcements on the opposite flank.

Last month, Brentford’s Aaron Hickey was mentioned as a possible target. Like Kieran Tierney, he is a Scottish international and there is a chance that the Bees player could replace his fellow countryman at the Emirates.

There has also been speculation about recruiting a midfielder. Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz has been linked once more with Arsenal in recent days, along with Royal Antwerp’s Arthur Vermeeren. The suggestion is that either could replace Jorginho, who may leave in the New Year.

Finding cover for Bukayo Saka will also have to be considered. The winger has struggled to stay fit in recent weeks, and there are rumours that manager Mikel Arteta may reignite his interest in Wolves’ Pedro Neto. The Portuguese international has had a strong start to the season.
