“Pure Talent” – Scout Claims 4 Italian Giants Are Pursuing Arsenal Starlet Who Is Valued At £26M

Arsenal midfielder Charlie Patino is being targeted by four different Italian clubs, according to talent scout Michele Fratini.

The 20-year-old is currently on loan at Championship side Swansea City but, speaking to Rai Sports (quotes via Pianetamilan.it), Fratini says there is growing interest in the player:

“I would like to point out Charlie Patino, a midfielder born in 2003 for Arsenal who is playing on loan at Swansea. He is a pure talent, he is left-footed, he is the only playmaker in English football.”

“He is compared to all the top Italian clubs such as Milan, Juventus, Inter and Napoli. He costs €30million (£26m). He’s very strong, it’s out of every category.”

Patino was on the verge of leaving Arsenal last summer

Respected journalist David Ornstein confirmed earlier this year that the Hale End academy graduate wanted a permanent transfer away from the Emirates Stadium.

However, Patino eventually decided to join Swansea on a season-long loan. The player’s contract expires in 2025 so the Gunners would be able to sell him for a decent fee at the end of the season, although whether they will get £25m to £30m, it is up for debate.

How has Patino been performing this season?

The midfielder has had a strong start to the campaign, having scored 1 goal and provided 4 assists in 11 appearances for Swansea. During his time at Blackpool last year, he only managed 3 goals and 4 assists in one full season so he is clearly making progress.

With reports that Arsenal are targeting Royal Antwerp’s Arthur Vermeeren as they look to strengthen their options in midfield, it doesn’t seem like there is a future for Patino at his current club. A departure next summer looks very likely.
