Arsenal Had ‘Very Tempting Offer’ Rejected For La Liga Ace Who Has Been Described As “Better than Mbappe”

Arsenal have had a “very tempting offer” for Barcelona forward Ansu Fati rejected, according to Sport.

The Catalan publication claims that the Spanish international has made it clear in no uncertain terms that he won’t be leaving the Camp Nou, and Barca have also accepted his stance.

Earlier in the summer, it was reported that the La Liga champions were pressuring Fati into moving, as they looked to raise funds for signings.

However, Sport report that despite “serious interest” from the Gunners and other interested teams, the 20-year-old has decided he won’t be forced out.

Fati is a highly-rated young player

The Spaniard has had his injury problems over the past couple of years but he does possess a great deal of potential, leading La Liga president Javier Tebas to say in 2021 that he could eclipse Kylian Mbappe:

“We always like to give a lot of value to what we have outside of Spain. We have Ansu Fati, who unfortunately has had injuries, but over time he has shown that he is equal to or better than Mbappe.”

Whether Fati can live up to those lofty expectations, only time will tell, but Arsenal obviously appreciate his talents as well.

Arsenal have been looking at signing a winger

Recruiting a right-sided forward has been on the London club’s agenda, and Fati’s ability to play right across the front three would have made him an ideal target.

However, it does seem as though the Gunners have shifted priorities in recent weeks. Negotiations to sign goalkeeper David Raya from Brentford are at an advanced stage, while there is speculation about another central midfielder being brought in before the transfer window shuts.

With a move for Fati having been ruled out, it is not expected that Arsenal will be in the market for another winger this summer.
