Arsenal are one of three Premier League clubs who are keen on signing Benfica right-back Alexander Bah, according to Tipsbladet.

The Danish publication claims that West Ham and Nottingham Forest have “shown interest” in the 25-year-old but the Gunners are also believed to be keeping tabs on the player.

With Jurrien Timber having been sidelined with an ACL injury, recruiting a fullback has come back onto the agenda, and Bah is one of the names being considered.

However, Tipsbladet report that Benfica are reluctant to sell the Danish international this close to the end of the transfer window.

The Portuguese champions are expected to hold out for a fee between €30m (£26m) and €35m (£30m), which may well be beyond Arsenal’s price range.

Who is Alexander Bah?

The Dane started at Naesby BK’s academy, making his senior debut for the club before moving to HB Koge in 2016.

Bah then joined SonderjyskE two years later. He spent three seasons with the Danish Superliga side, having also made his international debut in November 2020.

During the 2021 January transfer window, the fullback joined Slavia Prague for £1.5m. He stayed in the Czech Republic for eighteen months prior to his €8m transfer to his current team Benfica.

Arsenal may look at alternative targets

There has been a lot of debate about whether manager Mikel Arteta will decide to go back into the market before the transfer window closes on Friday.

The departures of both Kieran Tierney and Nuno Tavares do make it more likely that a fullback will be recruited, but Benfica’s valuation of Bah could price him out of a move to the Emirates.

Instead, the Gunners may look to pursue a cheaper alternative. An offer for Southampton’s Kyle Walker-Peters has been posited but they have already missed out on another option, Timothy Castagne, who has joined Fulham.
