Arsenal Told To Pay £36m For Dutch Ace As Hopes Of Potential Swap Are Dashed

Roma are looking to sell Arsenal target Justin Kluivert for €40m (£36m) this summer, according to reports in the Italian media.

It has been previously claimed that Henrikh Mkhitaryan could be used as part of a swap deal for the 21-year-old with the Gunners midfielder moving in the other direction

Roma have been struggling to sign Mkhitaryan on a permanent basis and it was suggested that the Gunners could offer the Armenian plus £13m in order to secure the Dutchman’s services.

However, that deal seems to be dead in the water with the Serie A side’s new valuation of Kluivert. The swap would have valued the winger at around the £25m mark, which is £10m short of what the Giallorossi are now expecting.

With Roma in financial difficulties, though, it is likely that the asking price could be negotiated downwards, especially if they are looking to get Mkhitaryan in exchange.
