Arsenal Told They Must Bid 20M If They Want To Land 21 Year Old Who Ian Wright Believes Can Be A Star

Arsenal and Tottenham will need to pay £20m if they want to sign Middlesbrough right-back Djed Spence this summer, according to reports in England.

Both London clubs are likely to make offers for the 21-year-old but Boro want a club-record fee to allow the fullback to leave.

Spence has actually spent the season out on loan at Nottingham Forest and he starred as the Championship club beat the Gunners 1-0 in the third round of the FA Cup back in January.

After the game, Arsenal legend Ian Wright was full of praise for the defender, and he revealed that he had a conversation with the player where he told him he has the ability to play in the Premier League:

“If we are talking about right-backs performing at an unbelievable level, we’re talking Reece James and Trent (Alexander-Arnold). But I have not seen a combative, technical, swashbuckling performance like that for a very long time.”

“I said to him afterwards, ‘whatever’s happening, whatever you’re doing, the level you’ve just shown us here is the level you have to be consistently hitting, Djed’. I said that to him at the end of that game and all his family were there, and they were saying ‘yes! Listen, man! Listen!’ I said to him, in all seriousness, ‘that level we saw there? You should be in the Premier League’. Simple as that.”

With Cedric performing well for the Gunners, and Takehiro Tomiyasu also in the squad, Spence may find it hard to get game time if he does move to the Emirates this summer, but he looks like he does possess the talent to make it at the highest level.
