Arsenal to replace Wenger with Joachim Low?

Arsenal are secretly planning on bringing Germany boss Joachim Low to the club in order to replace Arsene Wenger, says Bundesliga expert Lee Price.

Low has managed Germany since 2006 and has guided them to World Cup glory in 2014 as well as winning the Confederations Cup in 2017. He is widely thought of as one of the best managers in the world, and it would be a major coup for the Gunners if they managed to snap him up from Germany’s clutches.

Wenger has two season’s left on his Arsenal contract, but many see his job as being in danger after yet another slow start to the season with the club. It might be worth checking the odds on the Frenchman’s chances of being relieved of his duties at the Emirates – and what Lows chances of being his replacement are – use this Bet365 bonus code for a bonus.

Price says that the Gunners’ board could already be planning on Wenger’s replacement, claiming Low is one of the favourites for the position.

Quoted by the Daily Express, Price said: “Though the Wenger Out campaign has begun in earnest, and early, this season, the Arsenal board have already secretly begun succession planning – however much that surprise supporters.”

“The trauma of this year has taken its toll, particularly the second half of the previous campaign, where Arsene Wenger allowed his future to become a circus.”

“It is believed that the club will not offer an extension to his current deal as manager – and will instead offer an upstairs role on the board, likely honorary.”

“They intend to replace him with a man who can have a similar long-term outlook as the Frenchman, with Germany boss Joachim Low emerging as surprise contender.”

“Despite, at 57, not being especially young when compared with those previously tipped with the role – the likes of Bournemouth’s Eddie Howe (39) and Hoffenheim’s Julian Nagelsmann (30) – Low’s gradual building of Germany has been noted and, increasingly, coveted.”

“He would represent, to the Arsenal board at least, a lower risk option to bringing in a rookie boss, and bring with him the authority and kudos of a World Cup winning manager.”

Price believes that Low will manage Germany at the World Cup next year in Russia, before stepping down as manager. Price then says that a move to manage Arsenal could be on the cards.

“For Low, who would like to step down from his national team post after Russia 2018 and take a sabbatical from the game, it would give him a final chance to crack club management at the highest level, an area where he still feels he needs to prove himself.”

“His consideration is irrelevant to the immediate future of German star Mesut Ozil, though the Arsenal board are likely to offer the playmaker another contract in the coming months, to try and avoid the embarrassment of losing him and Alexis Sanchez.”
