Arsenal Target Real Madrid Midfielder

Arsenal could be set to make the first move in the race for Real Madrid’s Isco. The midfielder, who previously played for Malaga, has flirted with a possible move to the Premier League in the past. Manchester City are also said to be interested in the attacking midfielder.

The 23-year-old has struggled to nail down a regular starting spot for Los Blancos due to tight competition with the likes of Luka Modric, Toni Kroos and James Rodriguez. Now it could be time for the Spain international to move on.

Isco would cost Arsenal around £30 million, but that fee is a bargain when the current inflated market is assessed. At 23, there would also be huge resale value to be taken into consideration. For a player of Isco’s quality to join Arsenal, the transfer fee shouldn’t actually play a huge part in Wenger’s decision to sign him.

The Spaniard has appeared over 60 times for Real Madrid in the 2 years he’s spent at the Bernabeu scoring 12 goals. For Spain’s senior side he’s managed 10 appearances but with the U21’s he has an impressive record of 10 goals in 19 appearances.

Should Arsenal go in for Isco, there’s no doubt he’d add great quality into the midfield. He could be viewed as a successor to Santi Cazorla but that doesn’t mean he’d play a bit-part in the side. Isco’s versatility means he can play just about anywhere in the middle of the park, something Wenger has always been a fan of.

Arsenal face competition from various sides for Isco’s signature, but if Real are willing to sell, the call of the Emirates might be too much for the 23-year-old to resist.
