Arsenal Target Keen On Switch to PSG

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been considered the ‘African Neymar’ in recent weeks given his goal scoring exploits this season, as he has scored an astounding 16 league goals in 27 games. He has attracted attention from a host of English clubs like Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool and even Newcastle United. However it is London club Arsenal who are being thought of, as the club most interested in the 23-year old. It has been reported that scouts from Arsenal have been spotted in the stands during Saint-Etienne’s games, watching Abumeyang in action on numerous occasions.

It is a poorly kept secret that the Gunners will be on the lookout for a new striker in the summer, as they will look to introduce some serious competition for French international Olivier Giroud for a spot in the starting 11. They have been linked to big names in recent months like Dutch international Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, Barcelona’s Spanish striker, David Villa, and Serie A outfit Napoli’s hit man, Edinson Cavani. None of these deals have actually materialized, but the rumors linking Arsenal with almost every top striker in Europe never stop doing the rounds. Abumeyang is the latest addition in the list of possible new faces at the Emirates Stadium.

However, the odds are now stocked heavily against Arsenal as Abumeyang recently spoke to Express where he said that he was ready for his big move, and that playing alongside PSG’s summer signing and Swedish sensation Zlatan Ibrahimovic is something that would excite him.

“I am ready to join a top club,” Aubameyang is quoted as saying by the Express.

“PSG? Of course an eventual offer would be interesting, but I don’t know if they are really tracking me, we’ll see.”

“In any case, it would be nice to play next to Ibrahimovic.”

Do Arsenal’s hopes of signing the exciting striker end with his statement? Or will they continue to pursue him anyway?
