Arsenal Target Juventus Defender Stephan Lichtsteiner

Arsenal have a good chance of signing one of the best defenders in the world. Stephan Lichtsteiner who has looked in a league of his own over the past two seasons, has refused to extend his contract with Juventus and is now considering accepting an offer from the Premier League. According to TalkSport, the 30 year old is asking a 50% raise in salary which is not something the Italian side is willing to provide. With his contract set to expire in under 12 months, Lichsteiner is not lacking alternatives. PSG and Inter are also interested in the Swiss international who just reached his 100 match milestone in Serie A.

The differences between him and his club are definitely a help to Arsenal’s ambitions of signing the Swiss international. The Gunners are struggling to line up a strong defensive unit out of the six players currently available in their squad. Lichtsteiner wants a 3 year contract which should not be a problem for the North Londoners. The salary shouldn’t be a problem either considering the fact that the right-back is requesting around £2.3 million per season.

Lichtsteiner would be a decent addition to the right side of the pitch and he is known for his lung busting attacking runs up and down the touchline. Wenger will have to take a very tough decision considering the fact that the Gunners really need reinforcements in the center of the defense. It remains to be seen if the club will make the financial outlay and sign several other players including Lichsteiner.
