Arsenal are willing to hand over Granit Xhaka and €18m (£15m) for Roma winger Nicolo Zaniolo, according to Calciomercatoweb.it.

The Italian website, who were the first to report on the Gunners’ interest in Juventus’s Arthur back in November, claim there is a “shock offer” on the table from Mikel Arteta’s side for Zaniolo.

Juventus are also interested in the Italian international, and Roma are said to be keener on offloading the player abroad so they don’t strengthen a “direct rival”.

Xhaka has been a long-term target for Giallorossi boss Jose Mourinho so Arsenal’s decision to include the Swiss international in the deal would make the proposal more attractive.

Whether Roma will accept the reported bid in the coming weeks, we shall see. Other Premier League clubs have also been mentioned as potential suitors for Zaniolo, including Manchester United, Tottenham and Liverpool, so there could be a few more twists and turns in this transfer story.
