Arsenal Seek Second Alternative For Sagna Besides Aurier

Arsenal will want to move fast in order to avoid a situation similar to that of last year when they missed out on all their major targets except Ozil on the last day at the eleventh hour. The situation is even more complicated considering the many gaps left in Wenger’s squad. Despite finally winning a trophy, The Gunners struggled throughout the season because an injury thinned squad. With Sagna leaving and with Walcott still recovering, Wenger will need to make some quick moves before the World Cup begins and prices start to rise. According to Metro, Aurier is not Arsenal’s only option to replace Sagna. Schalke’s Atsuto Uchida made Wenger’s list who is becoming more and more consistent.

Uchida who came to Europe for £1millon and is now valued at £5.2 million which would make him a low cost alternative to Aurier who is expected to cost twice as much. The Ivorian is also a lot more versatile than Uchida being able to play as a right back, a central defender and as a right winger.

The 26 year old Japanese international has only scored once for the German side since 2010. He only played for Kashima Antlers and Schalke throughout his career which might be a problem considering the roughness of the Premier League and his weaker physique. Despite being quite young he is still recovering from an injury suffered in February. Besides Aurier and Uchida Wenger also seems interested in Atletico’s Juanfran but the Spanish side will not want to let him leave.
