Arsenal Ready To Seal The Deal For Former No.1

Arsenal may be getting their hands on some extra cash for the winter transfer window as Roma plan to activate their purchase option and make Szczesny sign a permanent deal. According to Squawka the new contract might be signed as soon as this January as the Italian side have already made their decision regarding the Gunner’s future. It will be a strange transition – even though an expected one – due to Szczesny’s most recent statements.

In some of his latest interviews, he has suggested that Arsenal still remains his dream destination and that he will return to the Emirates to fight for a spot in the first eleven. Unfortunately, that dream is very far away, with Cech being probably one of the top 5 transfers Wenger has made in the past decade. Not only is there more security brought to the defense but there is also a determination that comes from the former Chelsea man, a determination that was missing with Szczesny. Add to that the fact that Ospina is also seen as better than Roma’s current keeper and you get an idea of what is going to happen next. It`s very unlikely that the Polish keeper will give away his current position just to become Wenger’s third choice. Even though he is very young, he does not seem to have a future at the Emirates. If Cech stays fit, he will continue being the No.1 keeper for Arsenal for at least 3-4 more years which would break anyone’s spirit regardless of how much they say they love the Red-White shirt.

Hopefully, Arsenal will reinvest the money received from Roma into one or two much needed transfers. Wenger should not expect too much though as the Italians have already announced they signed another keeper who will come to the Capital in June.
