Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu has agreed a new contract to remain at the Emirates, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
The Japanese international has less than 18 months left on his current deal, although the Gunners do have an option to extend for a further year.
However, Tomiyasu is now set to commit his long-term future to the London club and the vast majority of fans on X are delighted that the fullback will be staying:

Tomiyasu is a top-class defender but there are concerns about his fitness
Since arriving from Bologna in the summer of 2021, the defender has put in some excellent performances. His adaptability also makes him a real asset for manager Mikel Arteta, who can deploy him right across the back four.
However, Tomiyasu has struggled to stay fit during his two-and-a-half years in England. He has spent 194 days on the treatment table since joining Arsenal.
Arsenal will have the player available for selection this weekend
Japan were knocked out of the Asian Cup by Iran in the quarter-finals on Saturday so Tomiyasu will be back in contention when the Gunners take on West Ham this Sunday.
It’s a timely return. Oleksandr Zinchenko was forced off at half-time during the 3-1 victory against Liverpool after picking up a calf problem.
