Arsenal are in “negotiations” with Takehiro Tomiyasu about extending his contract at the Emirates, according to The Athletic‘s David Ornstein.
The Japanese international’s current deal expires in 2025, and the Gunners do have an option to keep him for an additional twelve months.
However, the London club have decided to offer Tomiyasu fresh terms and supporters on X believe he deserves to be rewarded for his fine form:
So happy for Super Tomi!

Tomiyasu has made the right-back position his own in recent weeks
The 25-year-old has played the last three games on the right-hand side of defence, displacing Ben White from the starting lineup.
After starting the season as a squad player, Tomiyasu has taken his chances when he has been given them by manager Mikel Arteta.
Arteta has played down concerns that the defender has picked up an injury
Tomiyasu has had his fair share of injuries since his move from Bologna in the summer of 2021, but he has managed to maintain his fitness so far this campaign.
There was some concern when the fullback was taken off at halftime against Lens on Wednesday night but, speaking after the match, Arteta said:
“We are really short at the back at the moment and we had to use the squad and make some changes, give some rest and give some minutes to all the players.”
From the sound of things, Tomiyasu should be available to face Wolves this weekend.
