“Mini-Maradona” – Piers Morgan Reacts After Witnessing What Arsenal Ace Did Against Burnley

Arsenal fan Piers Morgan says Kai Havertz’s goal in the 5-0 win over Burnley was reminiscent of Diego Maradona.

The German international ghosted in past the Clarets’ defence to score the fifth goal at Turf Moor on Saturday afternoon, prompting Morgan to post on X:

“OMG… @kaihavertz29 has just pulled a mini-Maradona.. sensational goal.”

Morgan has been one of Havertz’s fiercest critics since his arrival from Chelsea for £65m during the summer transfer window. However, after the final whistle at the weekend, Morgan praised the attacking midfielder for making him eat humble pie:

“Great performance, Kai.. you’re making a lot of critics, including me, eat our words.”

Havertz’s performance against Burnley

It was a standout display from the German. As well as getting on the scoresheet, the 24-year-old made one key pass, won eight aerial duels, and made one tackle as well as two clearances.

For a player who is not generally known for his work rate, Havertz really showed his commitment to the cause at Turf Moor.

Consistency is key for the Arsenal star

Since moving to the Emirates, Havertz has not shown that he can put together a string of good performances. Prior to the Burnley game, he didn’t really make much of an impact against West Ham, despite the Gunners scoring six goals at the London Stadium.

It doesn’t help that manager Mikel Arteta has had to move him into different positions. He has also played as a centre-forward four times this season, mainly due to injuries to other players.

Supporters will be hoping that Havertz can build on the display against the Clarets when his side take on Porto in the Champions League midweek. With the team in high spirits after recent victories, they should be confident of getting a result at the Estadio do Dragao on Wednesday night.
