“They’re Erratic” – Gary Neville Says He Worries That Arsenal Duo Could Cost Their Team The Title

Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville claims that Arsenal strikers Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel Jesus are too “erratic” to score the goals that the Gunners need to win the league.

The pair have often been criticised; the former for his inconsistent performances and the latter for his poor finishing, and Neville says he fears the London club could fall short in the title race if those two players are relied upon to lead the line:

“Jesus and Nketiah work their socks off, but in terms of quality will that be enough to win the league?”

“My only doubt is a centre-forward, if they had Haaland or they had Kane I would be saying it’s Arsenal if they can keep Gabriel, Saliba and Rice fit, but honestly, I worry about Nketiah and Jesus, they’re erratic.”

Neville is not alone in his concerns

Another Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has expressed the need for Arsenal to sign a top-class striker, while presenter Piers Morgan has also called for manager Mikel Arteta to bring in more firepower.

Whether the club will decide to go into the market for a new No. 9 when the transfer window reopens, it remains to be seen.

Arsenal have been linked with a £60m rated player

There have been a number of reports suggesting that the Gunners are interested in Brentford’s Ivan Toney. The England international’s suspension for betting infringements ends in mid-January and there is expected to be a scramble for his signature.

After scoring 20 goals in the Premier League last season, there is a case to say that the 27-year-old would be an upgrade on both Nketiah and Jesus, but his asking price could be a problem. Brentford are believed to be demanding £60m for the player.
