Arsenal Might Lose Captain To Manchester Rivals

After losing Sagna to City and after Fabregas joined Chelsea, Vermaelen seems next in line to strengthen Arsenal’s direct Premier League rivals. It seems that the Gunners have a strange way of managing their squad problems which is already too thin to compete with the likes of City or Chelsea. According to the Daily Express, United are set to make a move for the Belgian international who was benched most of the season. With Vidic leaving for Inter, the Gunner looks like the perfect replacement for Van Gaal’s new team.

Arsenal will have to find a way to keep their captain as they have already lost one important player and are yet to sign any new names this summer. Wenger is going down a dangerous road if he plans on waiting until the last moment just as he did last summer. Because of the Gunner’s conservative transfer strategy, Gooners had to see their team falling behind after the first half of the season was over. It was clearly a squad problem with too many injuries not allowing players to perform at their fullest potential.

City, Chelsea and now Manchester United have already begun signing and placing bids for important players even though the World Cup is still under way. Wenger decided to wait until the end of the competition to start spending some of that much advertised transfer budget which supposedly is bigger than ever. Up until now nothing big has happened but hopefully Wenger will manage to keep important players around and also bring in some star quality footballers before the end of the summer.
