Arsenal looking to land Brazil wonderkid this summer

Arsenal are ready to splash the cash to land Brazilian wonderkid Maycon this summer, according to reports across Europe. 

Maycon, 20, currently plies his trade in his home country with Corinthians, and his impressed a host of Europe’s biggest clubs with his performances for the Brazilian outfit this season.


Napoli, Real Madrid and Shakhtar Donestk – the latter of whom have a track record of bringing through young Brazilian talent such as Fernandinho, Willian and Douglas Costa – are all interested in the midfielder.

It is however, Arsenal who lead the race for the Corinthians star, with reports stating the Gunners have already held talks over a summer deal for the up-and-coming midfielder.

Brazilian publication UOL claim that Corinthians were willing to accept a £9million bid in January as long as the player was loaned back to them, however Arsene Wenger opted against such a deal.

Maycon is the former team-mate of another Arsenal target, Bordeaux’s Malcom (above).

After his impressive displays have continued however, Wenger is ready to reignite his interest in the 20-year-old at the end of the season.

The Frenchman is understood to be a big admirer of Maycon, and has monitored the player situation in Brazil for a number of years – even before his professional debut back in 2016.

Maycon has made eight appearances for the Brazil U20 national side, however is yet to receive a call-up to manager Tite’s first team.
