Arsenal Interested In Wantaway Chelsea Star But All Pale To De Gea These Days

Arsenal are interested in signing Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech in the upcoming January transfer window as speculation increases over the stopper’s future at the club after losing the position of number one to star youngster Thibaut Courtois, according to the Telegraph.

Arsene Wenger had to go through the stress of having yet another player caught smoking after the club number one Wojciech Szczesny was caught smoking after the side’s recent defeat to Southampton away at St. Mary’s stadium. The Poland international made two crucial mistakes in the game that led to the home side eventually winning comfortably. In the past, Arsenal were facing a goalkeeping crisis before Szczesny finally established his place in the side, but his form of late has compelled Wenger to consider signing a new goalkeeper for the rest of the season and after.

Cech has been guarding the Chelsea goal for a decade, and began his career at Stamford Bridge as Jose Mourinho’s number one goalkeeper. The club had the most successful years with Cech in goal, but the emergence of Courtois has been a revelation in world football. The Belgian completed three successful loan spells with Atletico Madrid and it was enough for Mourinho to deploy the 22-year old as the number one. Another young goalkeeper in David de Gea joined the English league with Manchester United a few years back and had a dodgy first season and was far from convincing early doors, but is now showing his truly world beating abilities in goal and has another world class keeper to back him up in Spanish national keeper Victor Valdes who has won about everything you can in football with old club Barca.

Hard to say who has the best goal-keeping duo in the Premier League- is it Chelsea with Thibaut and old Cech; is it Man Utd with Spanish Superstar duo De Gea and Valdes; is it Stoke City (yes Stoke City) with sublime Serb keeper Asmir Begovic and England U21 star Jack Buckland or is it Arsenal’s Wojciech Szczęsny and David Ospina?

Unfortunately we think it has to go to United as De Gea does look like the in-form keeper in World football these days and Valdes, who is back fighting fit again and is chuffed to be working with LVG again, is a multiple la liga winner and multiple Champions League winner plus multiple winner of various domestic cups and super cups. Maybe If Arsenal moved for Petr Cech, you could argue a Cech and Ospina partnership would give the United duo a good go but on paper it looks like both Arsenal keepers are inferior to the United partnership.
