Arsenal have been linked to an unexpected target who most consider a flop. Tottenham’s Vlad Chiriches, who had a great start when coming to the UK, is expected to receive an offer from Wenger. In his attempt to deal with the giant squad problems the Gunners continue having, the Frenchman will want to have all the backup options he can. Chiriches became available after Tottenham announced they are willing to let the Romanian international leave for at least 6 months. According to the Daily Express, Arsenal have serious competition from Roma and Napoli who have already initiated negotiations for the 24 year old defender.

Chiriches could solve a lot of problems for Wenger. He has the necessary skill and power to handle any attacker and he also has the speed to keep up with faster players. Unfortunately for him, he lost his focus and also lost his spot in the starting eleven. Arsenal could use someone like the Romanian defender who is not that expensive and can also play a lot of roles during a game.

Tottenham might want to avoid selling Chiriches to a rival team. Despite his not so impressive performances, he looks like he can still handle playing next to Mertesacker or Koscielny. He can also play a similar position to that Vieira used to have while being Arsenal’s captain. The downside is that Arsenal need to find someone who can pick up the pace right away and even if they can pry him away from their rivals Chiriches might take a while to find his rhythm with Arsenal.
