Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu was substituted with 20 minutes to go against Chelsea on Tuesday evening.
The Japanese international has been fit and available for the best part of a month but it was only his second start of the calendar year, following his inclusion in the eleven versus Bayern Munich last week.
There was no indication that Tomiyasu has suffered a further injury setback and it is more than likely that manager Mikel Arteta was protecting Tomiyasu’s fitness when Oleksandr Zinchenko came on to replace him against Chelsea.
While we shall have to wait and see what Arteta says in his pre-match press conference ahead of the North London derby, the fullback is expected to be ready for selection.
