Arsenal In Three Team Battle To Sign Southampton Defender

Arsenal are one of three teams interested in Southampton right-back Cedric Soares, according to Record.

The Portuguese newspaper reports that the Gunners, Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain are all weighing up a move for the 27-year-old.

Cedric fell out of favour at the Saints under Ralph Hasenhuttl and was loaned out to Inter Milan for the second half of last season.

However, the fullback did not do enough to get a permanent move, and he is available once again this summer.

Cedric’s current deal at St Mary’s has less than twelve months to run and the South coast club will want to cash in before he leaves on a free transfer next summer.

It means that the Portuguese international will be available relatively cheaply, which could have attracted Arsenal who have a limited transfer budget.

Manager Unai Emery is likely to be looking for a new right-back after Stephan Lichtsteiner left the club. The Gunners have also been linked with Brazilian star Fagner for the same position.
