Arsenal In Chase For Out-Of-Contract Barry

The 33-year-old, Gareth Barry was loaned out to Everton from Manchester City last season and impressed in a central midfield role, helping the Toffees to finish fifth in the Premier League table above Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspurs.

He was in his final year with City, who have decided against extending his contract. His impressive displays haven’t gone unnoticed, with many clubs interested in his services. His level of performances for Everton also suggests he still has a couple of years left in him at the top level.

Arsenal have been monitoring Barry’s situation and have offered the England international a one-year deal worth £50,000 per week, according to the Express. Arsene Wenger is looking to strengthen his squad and has identified Barry as a cost-effective way to provide him further options in central midfield.

However, Everton and West Ham are also vying for Barry’s signature and, unlike Arsenal, both clubs are in a position to guarantee him first-team football.

Do you think Arsenal should push for a deal to bring Gareth Barry to the Emirates Stadium next season?
