Arsenal fans ask “why” as Gunners prepare mega money bid for Ligue 1 star

Arsenal fans have been left perplexed after news emerged that the Gunners are ready to launch a mega money bid for Lyon star Nabil Fekir.

Reports suggest that Arsenal are preparing a £44 million bid for the Frenchman after holding encouraging talks with his agent, Jean-Pierre Bernes.

Bernes has conceded that Fekir wants to play for ‘a top 10 club in Europe’, leading to an approach from the Gunners, with Arsene Wenger understood to be a long term admirer of the Algerian born superstar.

Fekir is Lyon’s top scorer this season having scored 21 times in all competitions, 16 of those coming in Ligue 1.

And his displays have attracted attention from all over Europe, including from Napoli, Chelsea and of course Arsenal.

Yet why it may seem on paper Fekir would be welcomed addition to The Emirates and a struggling Arsenal squad, the fans remain unconvinced.

The Gunners completed the then club record signing of Fekir’s former Lyon team-mate Alexandre Lacazette in the summer, however the Frenchman has thus far failed to prove his worth in England.

Lacazette’s poor form subsequently prompted Arsenal to again spend big in January, bringing in both Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Manchester United’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan – moves that have thus far proved fruitful for both parties.

With the January duo in good form, and the Gunners still struggling at the back – they’ve leaked 11 goals in their last eight games – fans remain confused as to why their club want to further strengthen their attacking options rather than fix the obvious problem at hand …
