Arsenal are interested in signing Toulouse midfielder Ibrahim Sangare, according to reports in France. The French club have been relegated from Ligue One and are looking for potential suitors for one of their prized assets.

The 22-year-old was available for €15m (£13.4m) during the January transfer window, but Toulouse’s relegation means he will now be sold for just €10m (£9m) this summer.

Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey is believed to be the Gunners’ priority for strengthening in midfield, but the Ghanian’s €50m (£45m) release clause is a major stumbling block, which may lead to them making a move for Sangare instead.

The Ivorian generally plays as a holding midfielder, and is a physically imposing figure, standing a couple of inches taller than Partey at 6ft 3.

However, the Ivorian is being pursued by a number of other teams, including three in the Premier League. Everton, Burnley, Southampton, AC Milan and Atalanta are all said to be keen on the player.
