Lazio have held talks with Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi’s father about a possible switch to the Serie A club, according to LazioPress.it.
The Italian website claims that discussions between the team’s sporting director Igli Tare and Kutjim Mustafi have taken place, with an agreement over a contract close to being finalised. It is reportedly down to “the final details” with bonuses the only remaining sticking point.
Mustafi is currently out injured, having had surgery on a hamstring problem in the summer but he is expected to return to training next month so a move before the transfer deadline on October 5th is not out of the question.
Lazio are said to be close to signing another defender, Southampton’s Wesley Hoedt, but it is thought that the Italian side are keen on signing two centre-backs.
The Gunners would certainly be open to selling Mustafi, considering they currently have eight centre-halves in the first team squad, but it remains to be seen if the two sides can come to an agreement over a transfer fee.
