Arsenal are unlikely to make another attempt to sign Brentford goalkeeper David Raya this summer following the Bees’ promotion to the Premier League.

The Gunners were reportedly willing to spend £10m on the Spaniard last year before the shot-stopper signed a new contract with the Championship club.

However, The Athletic report that a minimum release clause was included in that deal, which could have allowed Arsenal to snap up Raya for a reasonable price.

The clause has now, though, become “invalid” following Brentford’s 2-0 victory over Swansea City in the playoff final yesterday afternoon.

Arsenal are thought to be actively looking for a goalkeeper this summer, with Maty Ryan having returned to Brighton after his loan spell, and uncertainty surrounding the future of number one Bernd Leno.

Goalkeeping coach Inaki Cana had recommended Raya as a possible option, after working with the keeper at Brentford, but that move now appears to be dead in the water.
