Arsenal ‘Ready’ To Splash 10M On 24 Year Old Championship Star

Arsenal “ready” to shell out £10m on Brentford goalkeeper David Raya, according to the Sun. The Bees have so far rebuffed the Gunners in their attempts to sign the 24-year-old but the London club are confident that the Championship side will accept an offer if it reaches eight-figures.

Manager Mikel Arteta is keen on signing Raya as a replacement for Emi Martinez, with the Argentinian international looking poised to sign for Aston Villa after the Midlands club had a bid accepted for the player.

It is believed that the Villans have proposed paying £16m upfront, with another £4m in add-ons. The keeper has reportedly agreed a £60,000 a week contract with a medical scheduled to take place this weekend ahead of the move being finalised.

His prospective replacement at Arsenal, Raya, has been recommended to Arteta by goalkeeping coach Inaki Cana, who worked with the player at Brentford before moving to the Emirates.
