Arsenal Continue Disappointing Run With Swansea City Draw

It could have been a decent night for Arsenal if not for Flamini’s last minute own goal. Podolski’s performance really stood out but it wasn’t enough to secure a win. His late goal and excellent assist for Giroud kept the Gunners’ hopes still intact as far as the title race goes until the very end of the match with Swansea City. Unfortunately, some poor defending at the very end of the match by Wenger’s side resulted in a draw which probably means there is little hope for the Premier League title anymore.

Swansea, who are now 15th in the Premier League standings, started the game with an early goal by Wilfried Bony. The 25 year old, who managed his 12th goal of the season, headed the ball powerfully past Szczesny with a bullet header after a well delivered cross from Taylor. Arsenal’s slack defending style gave their adversaries the chance to take the lead with little time gone out of the first half.

Arsenal dominated the game from then on with Oxlade-Chamberlain being one of the most dangerous players on the pitch. Swansea started the second almost as well as the first. Unfortunately for the Swans, De Guzman and Michu were not able to take advantage and score.

The Gunners equalized after Podolski found the net after receiving an excellent assist from Gibbs. Giroud made it 2-1 minutes after. Unfortunately Arsenal failed to hold their own against a team which had nothing to lose. Swansea went all out attack and managed to somehow get the ball into the net. It was Flamini’s unlucky deflection which lost Wenger two important points and seemingly the Gunners’ title ambitions for another season.
