After putting in a standout performance against Newcastle yesterday evening, Arsenal are said to be stepping up their attempts to secure winger Bukayo Saka onto a longer contract.
The 18-year-old currently has less than 18 months left on his current deal at the Emirates but the Sun are reporting that the Gunners are “confident” that he will put his signature to a contract extension in the “coming weeks.”
There have been claims in recent days that Liverpool and Manchester United have been monitoring Saka’s situation, with the teenager currently only earning £3,000 a week.
However, it is believed that Arsenal are prepared to offer a new deal which would increase the player’s wages tenfold to around £30,000 a week, and they believe that level of salary will be enough for him to agree to stay for the long term.
Saka has excelled under the guidance of head coach Mikel Arteta in recent months and the Spaniard will be delighted if the youngster signs on the dotted line.
