Arsenal Begin Talks With Walcott For New Contract

The 25 year old Theo Walcott will receive a new deal sometime soon given the fact that his contract is about to expire in 2016. Negotiations are particularly slow in his case though due to the player’s expectations. The England international who is one of the most fragile footballers in European football needs to make sure he will be given the chance to play more often. According to TeamTalk, unfortunately Wenger is not able to guarantee such a thing. Sanchez’s amazing form and Walcott’s repeated health problems make the contract renewal talks a lot slower than expected.

Currently under a £90,000-a-week agreement, the winger has his work cut out for him for the next seasons. Even though he asked to be played as a second striker and insisted it was time to become more involved in the team’s offensive duties, he rarely had the chance to prove he is the best for the job. Walcott started out great this season after spending almost 300 days recovering from a ligament problem. He picked up another injury on England duty and sadly has missed most of Arsenal’s most important games.

Despite all that, Walcott is still one of Wenger’s favorites and will probably continue his work at the Emirates. Lucky for him that he looked strong after every injury having little trouble with recurring issues. All his health problems are not necessarily related. He is expected to accept Wenger’s offer by the end of the season even if he might receive counter offers from Monaco who are rumored to be keeping a close eye on the 25 year old.
