Arsenal And Spurs Show ‘Great Interest’ In £30m Rated Brazilian Wonderkid Compared To Coutinho

Arsenal and Tottenham have shown a “great interest” in Fluminense forward Miguel, according to AS. The Spanish newspaper claims that the Gunners have already arranged a meeting with the player’s family and they have been sending scouts to watch him play.

The 18-year-old has yet to establish himself in Fluminense’s first team, but he is very highly rated by his club who have tied him down to a contract with a €35m (£30m) release clause.

Miguel has been compared to former Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho due to his playing style and physique, and AS report that Arsenal have “moved fast” in a bid to secure the teenager’s signature.

It is no surprise considering technical director Edu’s connections in the country. He helped secure the signing of Gabriel Martinelli from Ituano in the summer and was also instrumental in bringing in Pablo Mari on loan from Flamengo in January.

Whether Tottenham’s involvement in the race will complicate matters, it remains to be seen, but Edu’s likely involvement will certainly put the Gunners in the driving seat.
