Arsenal and Tottenham have both been in contact with Roma midfielder Amadou Diawara’s agent, according to reports in the Italian media.
Daniele Piraino has said his client has been left upset following an administrative error involving the player which led to the Italian authorities awarding Verona a 3-0 win over Roma on the opening day of the season.
At the time, the game ended 0-0 but Roma failed to register Diawara’s correct age. The Serie A club listed him in the Under 22 section of their 25 man squad despite the player having turned 23.
The bizarre error led to the Giallorossi losing their point and Diawara was subsequently only named as a substitute for their second league game against Juventus at the weekend.
The midfielder is now concerned about his place in the squad following the incidents, and this has led to interest from English clubs. Arsenal have previously been linked with a potential swap deal involving Lucas Torreira but, with the Uruguayan keen on joining Atletico Madrid, such a move appears unlikely now.
Diawara reportedly has a €30m (£27m) asking price, but it is believed that the Guinean is only seen as a backup if the Gunners can’t sign either Thomas Partey or Houssem Aouar.
