Arsenal And Chelsea Still Interested in Khedira

The World Cup winner, Sami Khedira rejected a new contract with Real Madrid in the summer in the hopes of a move away from the club. However, his excessive wage demands scuppered a possible move to Arsenal and the defensive enforcer eventually stayed at the Bernabeu.

The 27-year-old just has nine months left on his current deal but is yet to decide whether he wants to stay in Spain or join either of the London clubs on a free transfer next summer, according to the Daily Star.

The Gunners were very close to a transfer in the summer and Arsene Wenger is still on the lookout for a holding midfielder. Khedira would definitely fit the bill and his performances over the next few months could also determine his wages. However, they could face competition from Chelsea with Jose Mourinho keep to be reunited with Khedira, whom he had signed for Madrid when he was appointed manager in 2010.

The German is currently out injured but will return to action after the international break which kicks in after this weekend’s round of matches.
