Arsenal Among ‘Several English Clubs’ Who Have Held Talks With Agent Of 6M Rated Eredivisie Star

Arsenal are one of “several English clubs” who have made contact with the agent of Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana in recent days, according to Calciomercato.it.

The Cameroon international was believed to be close to a move to Lyon but, after other teams got involved in the deal, a switch to France has been put on the backburner.

In addition to Premier League teams, Calciomercato report that Inter Milan, one other Italian side and a number of La Liga clubs are also now competing for Onana’s signature.

Ajax are only holding out for a fee of €7m (£6m) for the player as the Eredivisie club know he can leave on a free transfer next year when his contract expires.

In terms of Arsenal’s interest, the Gunners were previously put off by the fact that Onana’s doping ban does not end until November, but the London club’s inability to get an agreement with Sheffield United for Aaron Ramsdale may lead them to reconsider signing the Ajax number one.
