Arsenal Agree £27 million Deal to Sign Belgian Winger

Arsenal have agreed a deal to sign Brighton’s Belgian winger Leandro Trossard for a reported £27 million fee according to Sky Sports News. The 28-year-old Belgian had been seeking an exit from the Seagulls after an alleged falling out with manager Roberto De Zerbi.

Despite the reported bust-up, Trossard has been having a great season on the South Coast. He’s scored seven goals and racked up three assists in 16 games – can he continue this strong run of form in North London?

Arsenal were not the only club who were thought to be interested in Trossard. Both Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United had been linked with the player previously before he made the jump to the Gunners.

Trossard has been in the Premier League since 2019, when he initially signed for Brighton. In that time, he’s accumulated 25 league goals – Mikel Arteta will be hoping that there are many more to come.

At this moment, it’s somewhat difficult to see where the Belgian could fit into Arsenal’s starting eleven. A winger by trade, Arteta will most likely be unwilling to unseat either Bukayo Saka or Gabriel Martinelli with the form they’re currently in. As such, Trossard may have to wait for his chance to shine.

Regardless, the addition of Trossard to Arsenal’s squad provides them with a quality option and strength in depth off the bench. The Belgian international is very versatile, able to play as a traditional winger, striker, number 10 or even wing-back.
