Arsenal have had a loan offer turned down by Real Madrid for midfielder Dani Ceballos, according to reports in the Spanish media.
The Gunners are said to be unwilling to pay the same €4m fee they paid to take the 24-year-old on a season-long loan last summer, while they are also now only prepared to pay half his wages.
As a result, Real have decided that Ceballos will start preseason with them, and they will be open to offers from other clubs to sell him on a permanent basis. Fans on Twitter have called on Arsenal to make an improved bid for the player:
ahh please just get it done

It’s part negotiation. We might go back with another offer. Maybe with our interest in Partey, Cebellos will not get much 1st team football thus why we are only willing to pay half his wages

Arsenal certainly seem to be working on a tight budget this summer, and it appears that negotiations for Ceballos could be long and drawn out, going by Real’s stance on their opening offer.
With the club focused on trying to sign Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey, raising the funds to keep Ceballos as well looks like it will be a big challenge.
