Monchi officially left his role as sporting director at Serie A side Roma by mutual consent on Friday.
The Spaniard has been heavily linked with the vacant technical director role at Arsenal in recent months and reports over the weekend have suggested he will join the Gunners in the summer.
Fans on Twitter have had a mixed reaction to the prospect of Monchi coming to the Emirates:
Positive but not over the moon. Hopefully it will lead to great things.

A fullfiller of Kroenkes dreams…
He will turn Arsenal into supermarket!
He is a seller.
Is that the future and the way this club is heading to? Goodnight…— JJ (@auguscht) 8 March 2019
He's good at fiding good Young players, but when as a club you put yourself on buying Young players you have to expect inconsistency of those players for few seasons before the blossom

The 48-year-old had a very good track record at Sevilla, helping to guide the Spanish club to five UEFA Cup/Europa League trophies in his 16-year stint as the team’s sporting director.
Three of those titles were lifted with Unai Emery as manager, and it’s likely Monchi’s arrival at Arsenal would have been partially influenced by his fellow Spaniard’s presence at the club.
However, the sporting director’s time at Roma was a lot less successful. Players such as Mo Salah were sold to Liverpool for below market value, and he was blamed for the club’s lack of success on the pitch in recent years.
Whether Arsenal will see the Monchi of Sevilla or Roma, we shall have to wait and see.
