Arsenal have made an enquiry for Napoli striker Andrea Petagna, according to reports in the Italian media.
The Gunners apparently see the 25-year-old as having the perfect characteristics for the Premier League with head coach Mikel Arteta looking at alternatives just in case either Alexandre Lacazette or Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang were to leave the club.
Petagna scored 12 goals in 36 appearances in Serie A last season, and is very much a target man. Supporters on Twitter don’t think a move for the Italian will happen:
He's a lesser version of Oli Giroud, one of the slowest CFs in Europe.

Why have a scouting network when you have Napoli?

Never happening in a million years. Might as well buy Giroud back from Chelsea.

He hasn’t even played a game for Napoli yet ? They signed him in January and immediately loaned him out

Petagna was only signed from SPAL in January before being loaned back until the end of the season, and it is thought that Napoli are not willing to sell him, considering he has just arrived.
It’s a very strange transfer rumour, to say the least, and with Aubameyang now expected to sign a new contract, the Gunners are unlikely to be focused on signing another striker this summer anyway.
