Schalke Preparing For Life Without Draxler

Schalke Preparing For Life Without Draxler

Arsenal’s supposed interest in Julian Draxler in the January transfer window created much noise and gained significant attention. It was of no use however, as the Gunners failed to land their top target. They are highly expected to return to the Bundesliga outfit with renewed interest in the summer.

What makes it more difficult for Schalke to keep hold of the 20-year old star is the fact that his release clause kicks in before the start of next season. That gives the authority to any interested party to enter into negotiations with the player, provided the amount in the release clause is met. Draxler’s release clause is set at 45.5 million euros, and Arsene Wenger is understood to be ready to part with this hefty fee to land him.

ESPNFC report that Schalke’s coach Jens Keller fears losing him in the summer, and says that it will not be wise to involve Draxler in plans for next season just yet. He said, “I am delighted that we have him on board for the second half of the season but, because of his clause, he can leave when a club puts the money on the table,”

“That’s why I can’t plan with him, because it is just not in my or our hands.”

With Schalke already mentally preparing themselves for the loss of Draxler, do you think Arsenal really will land this German prodigy?
