Cody Gakpo scored his third goal in as many games in the Netherlands’ 2-0 win over Qatar on Tuesday, increasing speculation that he could leave PSV during the January transfer window.
Arsenal have been touted as one of the Dutchman’s potential suitors, along with Manchester United and Liverpool. Asked whether the Gunners should make a serious attempt to sign the winger, the response from fans on Twitter was rather mixed:
This is the right choice 👍👍👍

Would be a great alternative to Jesus, and can play across the front. Anyone who gets him will be a much improved side

ITV pundit Joe Cole was effusive in his praise of Gakpo following the victory against Qatar, stating that the 23-year-old could now be worth up to £80m. He even mentioned Arsenal legend Dennis Bergkamp when referring to his World Cup record:
“All the big clubs in the Premier League will be looking at this kid. He joins an illustrious group. If he gets three goals in three World Cup games, the likes of Sneijder, Bergkamp – he is not moving in those kinds of circles yet, he will be on his way. A really exciting young player.”
It does appear as if Gakpo will be in high demand when the window reopens. Whether the Gunners will make him their top target, though, it remains to be seen. The club are also said to considering a move for Mykhaylo Mudryk so it may be a straight choice between the two players.
