“There Is A Belief That Arsenal Will Try Again…” Charles Watts Makes Big Transfer Claim About South American Star

There is a good chance that Arsenal will make a bid for Palmeiras midfielder Danilo during the January transfer window, according to Goal journalist Charles Watts.

The website’s Gunners correspondent says that, after speaking to people close to the deal, he believes that a new offer for the Brazilian is likely in the New Year:

“As far as I’m aware, there hasn’t been a bid made yet from Arsenal for Danilo. But I expect there’s going to be lots of talk about that as we head towards January, and it wouldn’t surprise me if Arsenal do firm up that interest, make a bid and try and get this one done. I’m not saying it will happen, I’m just saying it wouldn’t surprise me. Having spoken to people close to that deal, there is a belief that Arsenal will try again in January.”

It is believed that Mikel Arteta’s side did table a bid for Danilo before the transfer deadline back in September but Palmeiras were unwilling to do a deal midway through their season.

With the league campaign having now ended, the newly crowned Brazilian champions are expected to be a lot more amenable to potential offers for their players.

Danilo is likely to cost between €25m (£21.6m) and €30m (£25.9m), which shouldn’t be an issue for the Gunners, but we shall have to wait and see whether a formal bid is made in the coming weeks.
