Charles Watts Provides New Update On Thomas Partey’s Ankle Injury

Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey is expected to miss at least a “few weeks” of action due to an ankle injury, according to Goal‘s Charles Watts.

The website’s Gunners correspondent claims results from the initial scan were better than first feared. After sustaining the issue in the 2-1 friendly defeat to Chelsea at the weekend, it was suggested the 28-year-old could miss up to six weeks of football:

However, it is now believed that Partey could be back before the end of the month. He will definitely miss the opening game of the season against Brentford but there is now optimism that he could play against either Chelsea on August 22nd or Manchester City on August 28th.

There is still some uncertainty regarding the estimated return date, though, and it is said that the midfielder will see an ankle specialist later this week to determine whether the initial assessment of the injury was accurate.
