Arsenal On Alert As 20 Cap Austrian International Confirms He’s “Ready” To Move Clubs

Hoffenheim defensive midfielder Florian Grillitsch has revealed he will consider leaving the German club at the end of the season.

Arsenal, Tottenham, Newcastle and Inter Milan are all said to be tracking the Austrian, who has 20 caps for his country. When asked about his future recently, the 25-year-old said he may leave a year before his contract expires, although he may wait until after the European Championships to make his final decision:

“I don’t necessarily want to leave TSG [Hoffenheim], I have a contract until 2022. But another career step is already conceivable for me, I feel ready for it. I don’t want to worry about what’s going to happen in the summer yet. There is also [Euro 2020], and then we will see what the future brings.”

Grillitsch has spent his entire senior career in Germany, originally coming through the youth ranks at Werder Bremen before making the switch on a free transfer to Hoffenheim in 2017.

Over the past four seasons, the midfielder has racked up 127 appearances, scoring eight goals and providing ten assists. He is also a utility player, having played as a centre-back, a holding midfield player and as a no.10 this campaign.

With Gunners boss Mikel Arteta expected to strengthen his midfield options in the summer, it appears Grillitsch’s name may well be considered, especially as he could be available for a knockdown price due to his contract situation.
