Thomas Partey Speaks Out On Whether He Could Start Against City This Weekend

Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey says it will be up to manager Mikel Arteta whether he features against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium this weekend.

The Ghanaian only arrived at the London Colney training centre on Tuesday and will only have a couple of days training with his new teammates but the 27-year-old claims he is ready to play if he is called upon:

“It’s the decision of Mikel. I just arrived. For me, I’m prepared but I need to get used to the style of play before I can play. I like to play in the big matches, but it all depends on the coach and whether he wants me to play on Saturday or not. It depends on him. I need to get used to the squad and then train with the squad before we can see what we will happen.”

Partey should be one of the freshest players in the squad after playing his last international fixture for Ghana on Monday against Qatar but Arteta may look to ease in the midfielder, especially considering the City game is going to be a very intense affair.

The system that the Gunners play is likely to need some coaching on the training pitch and that may make Arteta less inclined to start Partey on Saturday but the quality the player possesses may yet see him be named in the starting eleven.
