Roy Keane Questions Arsenal Trio Following Defeat To Liverpool

Sky Sports pundit Roy Keane is not convinced that centre-back trio Rob Holding, David Luiz and Kieran Tierney have the sufficient quality to play in a back three for Arsenal.

The Gunners conceded three goals in the loss to Liverpool last night. Tierney lost Mo Salah for the equalising goal, while David Luiz’s poor headed clearance led to Diogo Jota scoring the third. Keane believes manager Mikel Arteta may need to look at improving his defensive options:

“There’s no getting away from that but he will still want some improvement. His hands are tied which is a big problem because he still needs a couple more players in. We saw again tonight that defensively – I still think David Luiz, Kieran Tierney and Rob Holding, there’s big question marks over them. Luiz still has that mistake in him.”

Arsenal have already brought in Gabriel Magalhaes this summer, while William Saliba is expected to become a first-team regular in the not too distant future so Arteta does have options if he wants to change things.

Luiz was no doubt trusted last night, ahead of Gabriel, due to his experience but that may change in upcoming fixtures. Tierney, meanwhile, could also be moved to left wingback, with the Scottish international more comfortable playing out wide.
