Arsenal are interested in signing Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi, according to Tuttocampo.it. The Italian website claims that both the Gunners and Leeds have been keeping tabs on the 19-year-old.
The shot-stopper has been on loan at Serie B side Trapani this season, but despite conceding 45 goals in 24 appearances, and keeping just two clean sheets, he was handed his debut for Italy’s Under 21s back in September.
Carnesecchi has gone on to make five starts in the last six international fixtures, and he has not conceded a single goal during that time.
The teenager’s impressive performances have even seen him be tipped to return to Atalanta in the summer and challenge Pierluigi Gollini for the number one spot.
Arsenal do, though, appear to be looking to strengthen their own goalkeeping options, with third-choice Matt Macey’s contract expiring in June. Whether they will make an approach for Carnesecchi in the coming months, we shall have to wait and see.
